macOS Newton is a brand new concept for Mac that tries to rethink the aged desktop interface by taking inspiration from the modern and simple iOS experience. And with the help of the Touch Bar that was just recently revealed, the concept is pushed even further, beyond magic.
Flow
Apps management at its simplest.
With macOS Newton, fundamentals of the Mac experience, such as the Dock, or app windows, have been thought again for the better. The things that you do get stacked in a simple row, called Flow, for easy multitasking and quick navigation between your open apps.
Dock.
First things first. To open the Dock, swipe up with four fingers halfway through the Trackpad; a haptic feedback shall signal when to stop the gesture. If you swipe further, you open Launchpad to see all your apps. You can also open Launchpad with a brief and complete swipe on the Trackpad.
Opening apps.
When you open an app, it goes fullscreen by default. Open another one, the screen is split in two. If you open a third app, this is where the magic happens. All your open apps are added in the Flow, so you can easily swipe between them by scrolling with 3 fingers.
Multitouch gestures.
Pinch with 2 fingers to maximize or minimize your apps or pinch with 3 fingers to split the screen up to three parts. If you swipe left or right with 4 fingers, you instantly open a new desktop, that can you start filling in with your apps right away.
